JWM Presents Fifth "Masters of Brass" Film!

Jon Welch Music premiered its "Masters of Brass" film format in December 2008 and since then has received much accolades and attention. The JWM "Masters of Brass" film series is a different kind of documentary that allows you get to know  prominent and professional musicians up close and personal. Since its promising start, JWM has attended various events and was invited to the two biggest festivals in the trombone world: the 2009 Slide Factory Trombone Festival in Rotterdam, Holland and the 2009 ITF (International Trombone Festival) in Aarhus Denmark, bi-annual and annual highlights for trombonists the world over. From these events we took a lot of material home that has reemerged in our latest "Masters of Brass" releases. After our successful trip to Rotterdam, JWM also decided to establish an instructional series within "Masters of Brass".

The first product in this series is the Nils Wogram "New Style" Jazz Trombone Improvisation Clinic. Here the viewer gets the feeling what it's like to have a private lesson with one of Europe's leading Jazz trombonists. Nils Wogram explains his improvisational approach, special effects on the trombone, mutes and his modern harmonic concept. Rounding out the whole are unique performances by his band ROOT 70 from an intimate concert film and of course concert excerpts from the 2009 Slide Factory Festival. Today JWM is publishing its fifth film in the "Masters of Brass" series. Alongside Ingolf Burkhardt, Nils Landgren, Jiggs Whigham and Nils Wogram, we have the honor of presenting another master brass musician and one of the most highly respected teachers in the world. In this film, Professor Doctor John Marcellus of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester (NY) helps convalescing British trombonist regain his "voice" on the trombone again after a tragic accident. He guides the student back through air stream fundamentals, Bernoulli's principle of physics and uses a wonderful illustrative image to describe how the air stream causes the lips to vibrate. You can view trailers of "Air Stream Fundamentals" in the JWM Online Store.
JWM is happy and proud that our new format has generated so much interest and we have a wealth of unique material waiting to be published. This includes portraits of such artists as Michael Davis, Chuck and Bob Findley, Mark Nightingale, clinics with Jiggs Whigham, Alex Iles, Vincent Nilsson, Bill Reichenbach and many more ...
So stay tuned!
